2 Product Overview
The THHN 8 AWG building wire is a UL-certified single-conductor copper wire designed for 50A feeder circuits, sub-panel connections, and heavy-load equipment in commercial, industrial, and residential installations. It complies with UL 83 (Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires) standards.
The soft annealed bare copper conductor offers excellent electrical conductivity with low DC resistance. The 8 AWG size is commonly used for electric range feeders, sub-panel feeds, EV charger circuits, and large HVAC equipment requiring 50A circuit protection.
The PVC insulation combined with a nylon (polyamide) jacket provides robust protection against abrasion, moisture, oil, and chemicals. The low-friction nylon surface simplifies pulling through conduit, reducing installation time and labor costs even with the larger conductor size.
