2 Product Overview
The CY (YCY) flexible shielded control cable is purpose-built for industrial applications requiring electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). With a tinned copper wire braid plus aluminium foil shield, it provides effective protection against EMI/RFI interference, ensuring clean signal transmission in electrically noisy environments.
The Class 5 flexible stranded copper conductor per IEC 60228 offers excellent flex life and ease of installation. The cable is available in a wide range of configurations from 0.5 mm² to 150 mm² and 2 to 37 cores, covering everything from sensitive instrumentation signals to power control circuits.
The PVC insulation and sheath provide robust mechanical protection, oil resistance, and moisture resistance across temperatures from -20°C (flexing) to +80°C (fixed). For effective EMC, the shield must be terminated at both ends using proper EMC cable glands.
Manufactured to rigorous quality standards under the management of SORIVO, each cable is tested for conductor resistance, shielding effectiveness, insulation integrity, and voltage withstand. For detailed company information, please visit sorivocable.com/about-us/.
3 Key Features
EMC Shielded Design
Tinned copper braid (min 60% coverage) + aluminium foil provides effective EMI/RFI attenuation for signal integrity in industrial environments.
Wide Size Range
Available from 0.5 mm² to 150 mm² with 2 to 37 cores, covering instrumentation signals to medium-power control circuits.
Class 5 Flexible Conductor
Fine-stranded copper provides superior flexibility for installation in tight spaces and reduces bending stress on connections.
PVC Insulation + Sheath
Durable PVC construction provides oil, moisture, and mechanical resistance for long-term industrial service.
CE & RoHS Certified
Full compliance with European directives for safety, environmental protection, and CPR classification (Eca).
Flame Retardant
Compliant with IEC 60332-1 for flame propagation resistance, essential for industrial and building installations.
Effective Screening
For maximum EMC effectiveness, pair with compatible EMC cable glands and ensure 360° shield termination at both ends.
Clear Core Identification
Colour-coded or numbered cores with green/yellow earth conductor for fast, reliable termination.

5 FAQ
What is the difference between CY and SY control cables?
CY uses a tinned copper wire braid for electrical/EMC shielding. SY uses a galvanised steel wire braid for mechanical protection only. CY is recommended when signal integrity is critical; SY is for impact/rodent resistance.
How should the shield be terminated for best EMC performance?
For optimal EMC, the shield should be terminated at both ends using EMC-compatible cable glands providing 360° contact with the shield braid. Avoid pigtail (pigtail) terminations as they reduce shielding effectiveness at high frequencies.
Can this cable be used for VFD (variable frequency drive) output?
Yes, CY shielded cable is suitable for VFD motor connections where EMI suppression is required. For longer VFD cable runs, we recommend our specialised VFD cable with symmetrical earth conductors and higher braid coverage.
What is the maximum cable length available?
Standard drum lengths are 100m and 500m. Custom cut-lengths are available for smaller quantities. For very long runs, multiple lengths can be jointed using appropriate screened cable joints.
Is this cable suitable for outdoor installation?
Standard CY cable is suitable for indoor and protected outdoor installation. For direct outdoor exposure to sunlight, specify the black UV-stabilised PVC sheath option. For direct burial, armoured variants are recommended.
