2 Product Overview
The 0.6/1kV CU/XLPE/SWA/PVC 16mm² 2-Core Armoured Power Cable is a robust low voltage cable purpose-built for underground construction, street lighting, and single-phase distribution applications. Manufactured to IEC 60502-1, this cable delivers reliable power transmission with superior mechanical protection in buried and exposed installations.
The cable features two 16mm² high-purity copper conductors with Class 2 stranded construction per IEC 60228, offering excellent conductivity for single-phase circuits. The XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) insulation provides outstanding thermal performance with a 90°C continuous conductor rating and 250°C short-circuit tolerance, enabling higher current-carrying capacity than conventional PVC-insulated cables.
The SWA (steel wire armour) layer provides robust mechanical protection against impact, soil pressure, and rodent damage — essential for underground installations where physical protection is critical. The PVC outer sheath delivers reliable protection against moisture, chemicals, and environmental exposure, ensuring long-term performance in demanding ground conditions.
All production is managed under the quality system of SORIVO, with each batch undergoing 3.5 kV AC dielectric testing and routine conductor resistance verification. The cable is engineered for 30+ years of service life in underground power distribution and construction applications. For detailed company information, please visit sorivocable.com/about-us/.
3 Key Features
Underground-Optimized Design
Two-core 16mm² configuration is ideal for single-phase underground distribution, street lighting, and construction site power with SWA armour for direct burial.
Cost-Effective 2-Core Configuration
Two-core design (line + neutral) matches the requirements of single-phase circuits, eliminating unnecessary cores and reducing cable cost compared to 3- or 4-core alternatives.
SWA Armour for Direct Burial
Galvanized steel wire armour provides essential mechanical protection against soil compression, rocks, and digging tools for reliable underground installation.
XLPE High-Temperature Performance
Cross-linked polyethylene insulation enables 90°C continuous operation and 250°C short-circuit rating, maximizing current-carrying capacity for the 16mm² cross-section.
Sample Orders Welcome
Sample orders are accepted for project qualification, testing, and approval before bulk procurement, making it easy to verify cable quality and performance.
IEC 60502-1 Compliant
